Collect4 '08



During London’s most exciting art month, DegreeArt.com will be hosting four one week long exhibitions connecting emerging graduate artists with buyers and collectors. Doing what they do best DegreeArt.com will open their doors making Art accessible, affordable and approachable. Each week a carefully select group of artists will be showcased.

Thursday Night Openings
Each Thursday there will be a late night opening 6-9pm with drinks and music for the after work crowd.

Purchase
All pieces will be for sale and under £2000 and available to buy using an Own Art 10 month interest free loan.

Lectures
Each weekly exhibition will also incorporate a FREE Tuesday guest lecture with specific industry professionals, all relating to the medium on show. Online bookings will be available from mid September.

Portfolio Reviews
Prior to the Tuesday night lecture, the guest speakers and DegreeArt.com's Elinor and Isobel will conduct a limited number of portfolio reviews for student and recent graduate artists. Please send your CV to

Moses Powers
London Metropolitan, BA Hons Fine Art, 2009
Student photographer extrordinaire Moses Powers teamed up with Alex Nobel to curate this year's Guardian Lounge at Glastonbury. Utilizing his skills at sourcing bizarrely complimentary object Powers and Noble created a fantasy hanging centre piece for the tent.


Moses's limited edition prints are available on the site.

'Mayra Reyes Solis'
2008

Kate has been invited to do a retablo portrait of Mayra Reyes Solis, a 17 year old Mexican high school student murdered in 2001. "400 Women" is a project featuring 400 portraits by Lomax, Tracey Emin, Annie Kevans, Maggi Hambling and The Royal Society of Portrait Painters. It intends to make a serious political statement but also a fund-raising activity for the groups of activists that are supporting women's rights and continuing the fight to stop violence against women in Mexico and beyond.

Things We Like

The Vyner Street Festival

For the 5th year running The Eel Collective and The Victory Pub hosted the Vyner Street Festival. Its aim is to bring the new eastenders, the artists, new media workers, musicians together with the long-standing working class community. Over the past 4 years the Street has undergone a silent revolution seeing the influx of over 14 galleries and numerous studios making it the highest concentration of art galleries in all of London.

Proceeds are donated to Child Cot death charity FSIDS, chosen by Victory landlords Steve and Auring.
